Vital to making Winter Garden a great place to live, work and play are quality parks and recreation opportunities. The City of Winter Garden owns 55 acres of recreation facilities and has 149 acres of private neighborhood facilities. The 2021 Parks & Recreation Master Plan calls for $40 million in capital improvements to provide additional facilities as well as upgrading existing facilities.

In addition to the amenities and programs provided by the Recreation Department, Winter Garden is home to a number of outstanding sport/leisure/wellness facilities:

Roper YMCA Family Center— The NEWLY renovated Roper YMCA Family Center, located in West Orange County, has nearly tripled in size, giving the YMCA an opportunity to increase programs and services to better serve the children and families in our community.

We’ve added new group exercise classes, including Teen Fitness Classes, and more than 70 pieces of new equipment in our NEW 4,000 square foot Wellness Center. Some of the other features included in our renovations are:

· New Full Size Gymnasium
· New Adult Locker Rooms with Dry Saunas
· Gathering/Lounge Area
· New Teen Center
· New Multi-Purpose Room
· Newly renovated Child Development Area and Family Locker Rooms

THE WEST ORANGE TRAIL

  • 22 scenic miles
  • bisects the historic downtown section of Plant Street in Winter Garden, leading to the fountain gazebo and iconic clock tower and the perfect jumping-off place for dining and shopping
  • five trailheads and five outposts
  • equestrian trail, which begins at Clarcona Horseman’s Park and parallels the paved trail for 10 miles
  • xeriscape/butterfly garden
  • bike and rollerblade rentals available
  • direct access to Oakland Nature Preserve Boardwalk
  • events such as the Bike Rodeo & Picnic and organized walk/run marathons
  • will eventually be part of the 200-mile planned regional connection known as the Central Florida Loop
