The Winter Garden Fire Rescue Department is responsible for the protection of the City of Winter Garden. The city has a population of over 28,000 residents and covers approximately 18 square miles. The department consists of 38 personnel, a Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Marshal, Full-time Fire Inspector, Administrative Assistant, (3) Fire Battalion Chiefs, (6) Lieutenants, (9) Engineers and (15) Firefighters. All of our Firefighters are certified to meet the professional Firefighter qualifications for the state of Florida and are medically trained as either Emergency Medical Technicians or Paramedics. The Winter Garden Fire Rescue Department currently holds an ISO fire rating of "5".
The department operates out of 2 stations and responds to emergencies with two BLS (Basic Life Support) engines and an ALS (Advanced Life Support) Medic unit. We also have (2) reserve BLS engines and a woods truck. These units responded to over 3500 alarms in 2007. The Winter Garden Fire Rescue Department provides joint response to the Orange County Fire Rescue Division and to the City of Ocoee Fire Department for emergencies. The department utilizes a 2-tier rescue system, in which medical patients are treated by the department until the arrival of an ambulance from Health Central Paramedic Service, at which time our department transfers care to Health Central. Health Central then transports the patients to the hospital.
